Your generosity can make a difference today and help shape the future of local health care. Donor Advised Funds and Endowment Funds offer two ways to plan your giving, each with different opportunities to support the causes that matter most to you.

What is a Donor Advised Fund?

A Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is a charitable giving account held by a public charity, community foundation, or financial institution. You contribute to the fund, receive a charitable tax receipt from the charity that holds your fund, and recommend grants to registered charities over time. This approach is a flexible alternative to running a private foundation, and many families and businesses also use a DAF to create a named fund and involve the next generation in giving.

While Lakeridge Health Foundation does not establish Donor Advised Funds, we gratefully accept grants from them to help bring advanced equipment and technology to Lakeridge Health, so patients and families across Durham Region can receive exceptional care close to home.

What is an Endowment Fund?

An Endowment Fund is a restricted fund invested through Lakeridge Health Foundation in perpetuity, creating a reliable, ongoing source of support for local health care. A portion of the fund’s value is distributed each year, according to its terms and spending policy, while the remaining assets stay invested to support future generations. Your fund can support Lakeridge Health's greatest needs or a specific area of care that is meaningful to you. You receive a charitable tax receipt when creating your Endowment Fund, as well as on each distribution each year.

To honour this lasting commitment, donors who establish an Endowment Fund through Lakeridge Health Foundation are recognized on a dedicated endowment panel on our main donor wall at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, celebrating their generosity and the care they help make possible for generations to come.

How to recommend a DAF grant to Lakeridge Health Foundation:

1. Log in to your DAF provider's portal, or contact your provider directly.

2. Search for Lakeridge Health Foundation.

3. Choose your grant amount and, if you wish, the area of care you'd like to support.

4. Email Adrienne or Pamela at the addresses below to let us know about your gift so we can thank you properly.
