Job Purpose:
With leadership from the Sr. Manager, Community Engagement, the Events Officer plays a key role in designing and executing Lakeridge Health Foundation’s signature fundraising events—our Gala, Golf Tournament, Ride for the ‘Ridge, and Night Shift. The Events Officer will work closely with the Community Engagement Officer and Stewardship Officer to support third-party events, community initiatives and other internal events.
The Events Officer is responsible for the full event cycle including event execution, budget management, evaluation, and performance measurement. The Officer will also identify new opportunities to elevate event experiences and maximize fundraising revenue. They will also work to deepen community engagement in support of exceptional health care at Lakeridge Health.
Responsibilities:
Work alongside the Senior Manager, Community Engagement and Vice-President Marketing and Community Engagement to draft and manage the events program budget.
Planning, production, and successful execution of all signature events.
Develop and manage event critical paths, budgets, and performance metrics to ensure targets are met or exceeded.
Monitor revenue and expenses, proactively address shortfalls, and deliver reconciliation within 60 days of event close.
Secure permits, licenses, venues, suppliers, auction items and vendors, negotiating best value and ensuring event excellence.
Collaborate with colleagues to design and deliver integrated sponsorship and fundraising strategies.
Recruit, train, and lead event committees and volunteers, ensuring meaningful engagement and strong outcomes.
Build event marketing and communication strategies to recruit participants, engage donors, and steward sponsors.
Ensure accurate tracking and reporting through Raiser’s Edge, Raisin, and related systems.
Uphold the highest standards of accuracy, compliance, and professionalism across all event deliverables.
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with donors, sponsors, volunteers, vendors, staff, and the wider community.
Take initiative to seek out and apply innovative approaches to improve event experiences and results.
Support the Community Engagement team as needed.
Qualifications:
Minimum 3-5 years’ progressive experience in event planning, preferably within fundraising and/or non-profit.
Proven track record in executing large-scale, complex, and high-profile events that meet or exceed fundraising goals.
Strong financial acumen with experience in budget creation, management, and reporting.
Exceptional project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
Skilled in negotiation, vendor management, and logistics.
Collaborative, approachable, and trustworthy, with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
Demonstrated creativity, flexibility, and sound judgment.
Experience recruiting, supervising, and motivating volunteers and committees.
Proficiency with Raiser’s Edge, Raisin, MS Office, or equivalent programs.
Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.
